The title of this exhibition is borrowed from a sign on a Burger King restaurant marquee which meant to read "Temporarily Closed"; the letter 'D' was absent. I often think about being temporarily close with the people I love and know. We may live in diverse places across our little planet, but even so, we can be temporarily close, and it’s quite a delightful gift. I've been re-reading The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. As a child, I was drawn to the delicate and somewhat frightful drawings, and Le Petit Prince's loneliness. Caring for a flower, describing a world, wishing to leave a planet — the vulnerability of the writing and drawings have been informative to me in my art practice.
